Position Summary:As a member of the Tool and Die team in the Manufacturing Engineering department this position will design and reverse engineer tools, fixtures, patterns, gauges and other special equipment to assist in productions requirements to meet particular operations on production parts.

What you will do:

• Produce drawings to New Flyer’s drafting standards.

• Adapt to new methods, processes, material and equipment as

• Design tools, fixtures, jigs, patterns, gauges and special tooling aids for production parts.

• Reverse engineer to design in AutoCAD/Unigraphics already manufactured jigs, tools, fixtures, patterns, gauges and special tooling used by production.

• Determine the materials to be used for each detail, the heat treatment specifications, the working limits on the layout, etc.

• Incorporate concepts from engineers, tooling and production personnel into drawings.

• Draw layouts to scale, solve problems of operations and show all part and assembly drawings with dimensions.

• Make changes to existing drawings as needed.

• Make on the job sketches of changes in tooling and incorporate changes in master drawings on unigraphics.

Preferred Skills

• Tool Maker’s license would be an asset

• Skill through experience or other technical training will be considered

• Ability to use computer aided design equipment; preference given to those with Unigraphics or similar design program experience

• Ability and understanding of the reverse engineering process with existing tools, jigs, etc into Ungraphics or similar design program.

• Ability to make on the job sketches

• Professional team member who has strong communication skills and ability to communicate with all levels of an organization

• Self starter who is motivated and can work independently

• Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meeting deadline while working in a fast paced environment
