  • Position Summary:

As a key member of our Technical Sales team you will be responsible for New Flyer’s timely and strategic response to customer procurement requests. You will lead cross functional contributors through the review of customer specifications and development of a competitive bid strategy that is aligned with the bid evaluation criteria, New Flyer’s customer sales strategy and prudently manages technical and commercial risk to the organization.

What You Will Do:

  • Responsible for the timely completion and submittal of proposal documents.
  • Ensure the Bid BOM (Bill Of Materials) contains the most complete and accurate information before the pre-production process begins.
  • Work with cross functional teams to prepare and submit complete and accurate bid documentation.
  • Develop pricing recommendations based on the competitive environment, estimated project costs and company profit expectations.
  • Ensure that the bid strategy is adhered to throughout the pre-production process and/or adjust the bid strategy as necessary.
  • Maintain the sales funnel, customer health dashboard, CRM (customer relationship management) database and other support documentation, including sales transaction reports.
  • Lead post mortem review of wins and losses with work cell and Regional Sales Managers with a view towards recommending changes and improvements to New Flyer’s commercial and technical value proposition.
  • Monitors competitor submissions and provides input to the marketing & sales support team on pricing, features and benefits.
  • Develop relationships with the customer procurement teams within the assigned market segment and act as the primary point of contact with the customer during the bid process, answer customer questions and work with the regional sales managers to obtain a clear definition of customer needs and expectations.
  • Keep aware of industry standards, FTA requirements and available bus technology.


Preferred Skills

  • Post secondary education in business or engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous experience in Project Management
  • Three years previous experience in a Technical role within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and finance statements
  • Ability to converse in a professional manner in both written and verbal communication
  • Strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and possesses initiative to seek improvements
  • Motivated self-starter with capabilities to work within a fast paced team oriented environment
