POSITION SUMMARY:The Technical Lead will be accountable for the supervision, coordination and performance of the Reference Bus Engineering design team as well as ensure the completion and accuracy of all assigned tasks at all phases. The Reference Bus Engineering team focus on continuous improvement initiatives, new product and new technology introduction on the current New Flyer Xcelsior product platform, through initial concept phase through to production implementation.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:•Supervise employees of the assigned technical section to ensure completion of all assigned tasks to New Flyer organization standards•Review task assignments and balance workload between section members to meet task schedule deadlines•Complete Engineering design tasks and project assignments which support production activities.•Create engineering designs meeting customer specifications using technical summaries, master resolution lists and other contract documents•Ensure that all designs are consistent with corporate manufacturing capabilities•Perform engineering calculations and analysis to ensure compliance with design criteria and all applicable regulations•Co-ordinate controlled testing of components and installations in order to meet contractual obligations•Complete engineering drawings and release documents in accordance with engineering procedures•Provide engineering support to Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Service Support and other departments as required•Interact with vendors and customers on design related issues•Check and approve engineering documents, instructions to Service, shop floor instructions and other documents as authorized

Preferred Skills

•Graduate from an Engineering technical Institute or University in electrical or mechanical engineering•Three to five years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred•Proficient use of MS Office, Oracle and Team Center will be considered an asset•Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects•Highly analytical problem-solver with demonstrated talent for identifying, understanding and creating workable solutions•Above average planning and organizational skills, along with a high degree of detail orientation•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills•Motivated self-starter with capabilities to work within a fast paced team oriented environment
