Position Summary:

As a key member of our Lean & Manufacturing Bus, you will be responsible for providing support and leading the manufacturing facilities and project teams on continuous improvement activities using lean concepts and tools. This support includes identifying opportunities for improvement, facilitating kaizen events, coordinating and providing lean training, tracking results and following up to ensure improvements have been sustained.

What You Will Do:

  • Facilitate rapid improvement (kaizen) events to drive process improvements. Prepare and present report-outs at the conclusion of event.
  • Coordinate and present lean training to associates and staff across all levels of the organization.
  • Monitor and ensure audit processes are in place to sustain 5S and Visual Factory performance.
  • Work with other New Flyer Lean Facilitators to ensure standardization of lean initiatives and practices are attained and maintain that best practices are implemented in all locations.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge base of lean process and practices (i.e. 5S, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Cycle Time Reduction, etc.).
  • Work with business leadership to collaborate on setting strategic lean goals and providing direction.
  • Create regular cadence of problem-solving review and coaching time. Ensure facility grows in problem solving practice and use across all levels of personnel.


Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred with experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, both verbally and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Visio, Word, Excel).
  • Demonstrated ability to create strong working relationships with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and possess initiative to seek improvements.
  • Lean/Six Sigma training is considered an asset.
  • Travel may be required.
