Position Summary:

As a key member of our New Product Development team, you will be responsible for the completion of design tasks and projects including design activities, building and testing products to meet the present and future needs of the organization.

What you will do:

  • Design and build prototypes, parts, assemblies, harnesses and installations.
  • Create and program working models of Electrical Control Systems and troubleshoot faults.
  • Investigate new technologies, alternate vendors, and issues of design within production and field service.
  • Interact and provide feedback to engineering on drawings, designs and theories of operation.
  • Interpret fabrication specifications using bill of materials and engineering drawings.
  • Work with hand and power tools, fabrication equipment, and test equipment.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as a forklift and/or bus.
  • Organize and perform tests to meet performance specifications.
  • Document reports and test documentations.
  • Maintain shop equipment and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Become cross trained on all areas within the work area to ensure flexibility and ability to perform a broad range of disciplines.

Preferred Skills

  • Electrical Technician Diploma or a combination of education & experience will be considered
  • Three to five years of related experience in research and development or in a manufacturing environment
  • A strong electrical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working with various electrical and mechanical tools, and test equipment
  • Ability to interpret engineer drawings, schematics, and bills of materials (BOM)
  • Working knowledge of warehouse and inventory systems, scientific test methods, Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), and/or lean manufacturing
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment
  • Motivated self-starter with high level of initiative and ability to work independently
  • Ability to work and contribute to a team orientated environment
